DESCRIPTION:THE STAIR CLIMB AND HERO CHALLENGE ARE SOLD OUT.\nPLEASE JOIN US FOR THE 5K OR 1 MILE. \nOn the morning of Sunday\, September 8th\, 2024\, West Palm Beach Fire Department (WPBFD) will host the 6th Annual WPB 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. \nThe event features a stair climb of 110 stories\, a CrossFit Competition\, vendors\, a heartening opening ceremony\, and a vibrant after-party. \n**New for 2024\, will be the addition of a 5K\, a 1 MILE race\, and a HERO CHALLENGE**\nThe 5K course is certified! Click on the link for the certificate     https://certifiedroadraces.com/certificate/?type=r&id=6086\nThe address of the event is 515 N. Flagler Drive (Fifth Third Bank aka The Darth Vader building) in downtown West Palm Beach. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8am\, races and competitions will begin at 9am. \nThe WPB 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and 5K provides participants a unique way to honor and remember all of the precious lives lost in the brutal attacks of September 11th\, 2001. \nThe 5K and 1 mile race will take participants on an out-and-back course down N. Flagler Dr. along the iconic West Palm Beach waterfront. FIREFIGHTERS are challenged to enter and run the 5K in BUNKER GEAR! \nThe 5K and 1 MILE EARLY Entry Fee is $35 until MIDNIGHT on August 23rd\, 2024.\nThe LATE Entry fee is $40 until 6pm on September 7th\, 2024.\nThe RACE DAY Entry Fee is $50 by cash or check only. \nThe stair climb event will consist of 110 story ascent representing the number of floors in the World Trade Center. \nThe STAIR CLIMB EARLY Entry Fee is $50 until MIDNIGHT on August 23rd\, 2024.\nThe LATE Entry fee is $60 until 6pm on September 7th\, 2024.\nThe EVENT DAY Entry Fee is $75 by cash or check only. \nThe CrossFit Competition will give competitors the opportunity to showcase CrossFit skills while also performing movements essential to firefighters. \nThe CrossFit categories are: \nRx Male/Male\, Male/Female\, Female/Female \nor \nScaled Male/Male\, Male/Female\, Female/Female \nThe TEAM WORKOUT (two participants) Entry Fee is $100. \nThe HERO CHALLENGE combines the 5K and stair climb events into the ultimate test of strength\, endurance\, and will! Participants will start by completing the 5K course followed by the full 110 story stair climb. \nThe HERO CHALLENGE EARLY Entry Fee is $80 until MIDNIGHT on August 23rd\, 2024.\nThe LATE Entry fee is $90 until 6pm on September 7th\, 2024.\nThe EVENT DAY Entry Fee is $100 by cash or check only. \nThose who make the EARLY Entry will receive a custom event t-shirt. *LATE and RACE/EVENT DAY entries are not guaranteed an event t-shirt in their size* \nALL PARTICIPANTS will receive a commemorative challenge coin as well as a “Swag Bag” with approximately $75 worth of goodies. \n5K AWARDS will be presented to the overall male and female winners. \n5K AGE GROUP AWARDS will be presented to the top 3 male and female runners in their age group. (Groups will be broken into 5-year intervals ranging from 9 years old and under to 80 years old and over) \nPre-race packet pick up will take place from TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD to SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH at West Palm Beach Fire Department Station #1 located @ 500 N. Dixie Hwy\, WPB\, FL 33401. \nOne half of all proceeds from the event will be donated to Operation 300. Operation 300 is an organization that was founded in honor of Special Operations Chief (SEAL) Aaron Carson Vaughn who was KIA on August 6th\, 2011. \nThe other half of the proceeds will be donated to the Pediatric Oncology Support Team\, Inc. (POST)\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. POST is a psychosocial support team that provides free services to children with cancer as well as their families.
