SUMMARY:Bill Bone 5K 2021
DESCRIPTION:For Complete Race Details & Photos Click Here \nThe 2021 Bill Bone 5K is an evening Race this year on Independence Day\, Sunday\, July 4th. The Race is known as a “Run to the Fun” because it is the first-ever point-to-point race that ends at the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach. \nWe are raising money for the Wounded Veteran’s Relief Fund\, a platinum ranked charity on GuideStar headquartered in Palm Beach County that provides direct services to vets. \nEvery entry comes with a free glass of cold beer and the best views of the Fireworks at the end of the Race. The course begins at Osprey Park located at 5026 N. Flagler Drive\, with ample parking at the FP&L Manatee Lagoon. Or runners can be dropped off at the start and then join their family downtown at the finish. \nRegistered participants can choose to run\, walk\, or stroll knowing that every penny donated to the Wounded Veteran’s Relief Fund goes directly to the charity and all donations up to $5K are matched by the Bill Bone 5K. Every Finisher receives a commemorative medal and a chance to enter a raffle with some really cool prizes. Overall winners and age group winners receive special recognition. \nFollowing the race\, you are in the best spot to stay and celebrate the 4th of July along the Downtown West Palm Beach waterfront with plenty of entertainment for the entire family\, culminating with a fireworks display starting at 9 p.m. over the Intracoastal Waterway of Lake Worth. \n_______________________________________________________ \nAbout Bill Bone \nBill Bone is delighted to both produce this Race and help sponsor the 2021 4th on Flagler Celebration. A lifelong Floridian\, Bill Bone considers it a privilege to practice law and support all aspects of civic life in the same city and county where he was born and raised. \nSponsors \nWest Palm Beach Downton Development Authority – the DDA was created in 1967 to promote and enhance a safe\, vibrant Downton for residents\, businesses\, and visitors through strategic development of economic\, social\, and cultural opportunities. \nManatee Lagoon – is one of Palm Beach Count’s fun and engaging family-friendly attractions\, with interactive\, entertaining exhibits that tickle your curiosity about the environment of the Lake Worth Lagoon and the wonderful world of manatees. \n_______________________________________________________ \nThe 5K – “Fun Run” \nThe 5K is the shortest race of the most common road running distances.  It’s typically the most popular event for novice and infrequent runners.  Five kilometers is considered a distance that nearly every healthy person can compete in without too much training.  In contrast to the marathon which is considered a serious race\, the 5K is widely viewed as a “fun run.”  It doesn’t require extended\, intensive training to participate\, and the relatively short distance means it doesn’t take that long to complete\, making it the ideal race for people of all ages and abilities. \nIn addition to being fun\, participating in a 5K has many proven health benefits\, including a reduction in BMI; improved cholesterol; reduced cancer risk; and decreased gallbladder disease\, cataracts\, cardiovascular disease\, Alzheimer’s mortality\, and respiratory disease.  Because of the 5K’s ease of participation and medium exercise intensity\, it is often recommended by healthcare professionals. \nParking & Post Race Festivities \nParking is available at Manatee Lagoon\, 6000 N. Flagler Drive\, which is located .06 miles from Osprey Park (starting point).  Transportation to Manatee Lagoon is not provided following the race\, so please plan to make your own arrangements for transportation back to your vehicle. \nPlease note that families are encouraged to drop off race participants at Osprey Park and then drive to “Downtown” West Palm Beach where parking is available at the City Lots listed below which are open on Sunday to accommodate the 4th on Flagler Celebration. \nAfter the race\, there is plenty of time to enjoy a meal at restaurants on Clematis Street or at special food truck vendors set up on Flagler Drive which will be closed to vehicular traffic. Racers and their families can enjoy an evening of fun after the race before the fabulous fireworks display which starts at 9pm and is being simulcast on WPTV Channel 5. \n  \n
